This blog includes essays from my experiences researching China's orphanages. The intent is to educate adoptive parents about Chinese culture, China adoptions and aspects of their child's early life in China.

Recent issues addressed on this blog are the biographical composition of China's foundlings — their gender, health, ages, and where they were found. Also of broad interest are the reasons for the increasing wait times for families waiting to adopt from China.

"The Rest of the Story" is a deeper exploration of current events surrounding China's international adoption program. My goal is to explore issues and topics surrounding China in more detail here than I can offer you in an open blog. Recent postings include a more detailed analysis of the orphanages that are seeing increasing submissions, the trends in gender balances, and other more detailed reports.

Due to the often sensitive nature of these essays, they are published on this more private, subscription-based blog for $20 per year. We hope that the identification and financial barriers will allow us to have a more detailed discussion than on an open blog.
