We are particularly interested in orphanage photos (current and previous), director photo with name and tenure information, and any miscellaneous information. We appreciate your help in making this project worthwhile to adoption families.

orphanage Description:
The facility used prior to mid-1999 was torn down to make room for the current facility. In its place is a small park area with a pond, bridge, etc.

After the original building was torn down, the kids were kept for a short time in a building now used as an Old People's House. The kids were in this facility from mid-1999 until early 2000, when the current facility was completed.

The current facility is located on the far side of the complex from the director's offices. The children are located on the 2-4 floors, with the youngest kids on the lowest level. There are about 80 children in the facility, 50 babies and 30 special needs kids. The lowest level (first floor) has a play room for older kids. There are about 6 babyrooms on the three levels.

First international adoptions took place in 1994, and since that time over 200 kids have been adopted outside China. There is no foster care program in Jiangmen.

Misc. Information:
The city is located on the lower reaches of the Xijiang or West River, in the west of the Pearl River Delta in the south middle of Guangdong Province. It faces the South China Sea in the south and is 100 km away from Guangzhou and Zhuhai by highway. Jiangmen city has an area of 9,260 km², about one quarter the size of Pearl River Delta. The climate is subtropical with monsoon. Annual average temperature: 21.8 C. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jiangmen)

Available from Research-China:
Finding Ads - Finding ads are published by the orphanage as the first step for international adoption. The photos used in the ads pre-date a child's referral photo by several months. Additionally, information contained in the ads is very valuable to adoptive families, especially those who have not traveled yet.

Orphanage Data Book - We offer adoptive families the opportunity to obtain all finding ad data for their child's orphanage as early as 1999 (date varies by orphanage), compiled and organized into a beautiful, 6"x9" hardbound book.

Photographs of City - Over the years, Research-China has visited many orphanages throughout China. We have built a large catalog of photos from these journeys that are available to families for purchase. They include, for example, pictures of the orphanages and staff, foster parents, finding locations, sites around the villages, towns and cities.

Maps - Our maps are the perfect way to locate orphanages, finding locations, and other important features of your child's city. We offer maps in originals and scanned versions.

DVD of City - Research-China.Org's orphanage DVDs provide a great look into the city of your child's birth. Orphanage tours (often including babyrooms), finding locations, and cultural and historical sites provide a wonderful introduction to your child's birth city.
